Party gifts for the lactation class

Today I am giving an inside look at what its like to attend a class with Lactation Link! With the help of many, I was able to hold a “Friends of Lactation Link” event a few weeks ago to bring you these images. Special thanks to Lizzy Jean Photography for these beautiful photos, Kortney Humphrey for event design, and all my vendors and attendees! Pay close attention to the promo codes throughout this post where you can get exclusive discounts on the items used in my courses.

Meet and Greet

As the guests arrive, I love meeting all of you and hearing the excitement about due dates and baby preparation. The attendees grab a Lactation Link notecard (designed by the talented bydawnnicole) and flip through a few of my chatbooks of the Lactation Link instagram account (where all my daily tips are shared).

Getting Started

At the start of every class I give a little background on my certifications and training (IBCLC certified). The attendees also get a chance to introduce themselves so they feel comfortable interacting throughout the course.

You will have access to a baby doll during the positioning portion of the course. I will teach you the basics of five different breastfeeding positions and have you demonstrate them back to me. This portion gives Moms so much more confidence going in as positioning can be a big concern in the first few days postpartum.

Fact or Fiction

During this portion of the course, I present frequently asked questions from my clients. You decide whether the statement is fact or fiction and then I give you my answer and rationale.

Once my presentation is complete, additional time is for group and individual questions. This is a great time to clarify information presented and ask something specific.

Giveaways and Class grab bags

Perks of the in-person course are the fun giveaways and grab bag provided! The items vary from class to class! For this class we had adorable bows from Anzanas Treasures, sophisticated baby boy bow ties from Little Mr Ties, a Sewsara name blanket voucher, and Lillemer buds breast heat packs.

Attending a class

I offer in-person and online breastfeeding classes. My in-person classes are held in Highland, UT and taught in the Breastfeeding Basics format. I offer online classes via Google Hangouts. An Internet connection is all that is required to access the courses from anywhere! Online classes are offered in the formats of ‘Breastfeeding Basics’, ‘Intermediate Breastfeeding’, and ‘Returning to Work and Breastfeeding’.

When should I take a class?

One of the most frequently asked questions on my IG account! The answer is: anytime after 12 weeks gestation is an excellent time to begin taking my courses. You will take notes throughout that you will study several times before delivery. Putting it off to the last few weeks you risk running out of time or delivering early unexpectedly. I had a client who said, “Learning to breastfeed without preparation is like trying to master a sport without practicing first!”

Class reviews

You can access reviews of my breastfeeding classes and lactation services in the testimonial section of the website or on instagram by searching the hashtag #lactationlinkreview . I really love when people stay engaged on the instagram page! Top followers (liking, commenting, sharing, tagging) receive surprise gifts from time to time and I hold great giveaways for moms and moms-to-be!

See you in class! ~ Lindsey, RN, IBCLC
